I spent a bit more than I normally do but you will see why.
The first thing I saw as I walked in and could not resist is this one cup tea pot. It's so pretty I really didn't need anymore teapots but, well look at it. Two dollars.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x7jo8MC1MHg/YH-AbrOLQFI/AAAAAAACj3g/smKBR94ddhcMSHeeqFVoKDPTK5l8kAh9wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_171146.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x7jo8MC1MHg/YH-AbrOLQFI/AAAAAAACj3g/smKBR94ddhcMSHeeqFVoKDPTK5l8kAh9wCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_171146.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tI8wLGLrCNw/YH-Ad3INyDI/AAAAAAACj3k/WWUovpUn1OwTYW_dAzUgdBGO3ytkai1QACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_171157.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tI8wLGLrCNw/YH-Ad3INyDI/AAAAAAACj3k/WWUovpUn1OwTYW_dAzUgdBGO3ytkai1QACLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_171157.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J5haMx0LrAQ/YH-Ahb-MzaI/AAAAAAACj3o/dYMNI5tfLDEtuhN1chm0q3cIVsnVIXHqwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_171213.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J5haMx0LrAQ/YH-Ahb-MzaI/AAAAAAACj3o/dYMNI5tfLDEtuhN1chm0q3cIVsnVIXHqwCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_171213.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dk7iaGmFzLQ/YH-Ak4xOZ1I/AAAAAAACj3s/FpWrwZZ0AosFUQFwcK66Krx8zjb_OLADgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_171238.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dk7iaGmFzLQ/YH-Ak4xOZ1I/AAAAAAACj3s/FpWrwZZ0AosFUQFwcK66Krx8zjb_OLADgCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_171238.jpg"/></a></div>
Isn't it sweet? I then picked up a glass bowl to collect Petoskey stones in. I will some day sort all the really good ones out. Just one dollar for that.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_iCR-pGWRyU/YH-A623R9zI/AAAAAAACj38/be3PdmQzfO8BlBy0TeJyIXXgu70dIsndACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_171219.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_iCR-pGWRyU/YH-A623R9zI/AAAAAAACj38/be3PdmQzfO8BlBy0TeJyIXXgu70dIsndACLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_171219.jpg"/></a></div>
I picked up a book because it looked interesting
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GHezeQU027c/YH-BFf9MgOI/AAAAAAACj4A/VqL2hSdDYLkz3CE5X9vezx9jQyTUGdMxQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_171217.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GHezeQU027c/YH-BFf9MgOI/AAAAAAACj4A/VqL2hSdDYLkz3CE5X9vezx9jQyTUGdMxQCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_171217.jpg"/></a></div>
Then I spy with my little eye.......for 11 dollars this Purse

I like it because it's silver and I know it's worth more than 11 dollars but even so, It is something I would buy in any case. In fact I had sent for something simular on line and it has yet to arrive (its pink) so meanwhile this will be good.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OZ2Cz3kdQgk/YH-DQFgKY3I/AAAAAAACj4g/kIOdO-3lOJUO12DVx2rD52XZVyyAiXvzgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210420_214215.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OZ2Cz3kdQgk/YH-DQFgKY3I/AAAAAAACj4g/kIOdO-3lOJUO12DVx2rD52XZVyyAiXvzgCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210420_214215.jpg"/></a></div>
The little stool I bought for 5 dollars and it will go on the front porch as a foot rest for the rocking chair. SO in all I spent 19.00 a lot more than I normally would but I think I got a good deal.

It's soft and warm and I made it from the yarn I got at Samaritan's Closet (2 dollars). I have began another and should have enough yarn to make a matching hat I hope. I love the colour.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i1_WydVCOZU/YHm2TOeFXQI/AAAAAAACjsU/B06QAP9-Xec21kmVYoKv4EDWYR_56ALfgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210414_151431.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i1_WydVCOZU/YHm2TOeFXQI/AAAAAAACjsU/B06QAP9-Xec21kmVYoKv4EDWYR_56ALfgCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210414_151431.jpg"/></a></div>
I finally sewed together the hat I made with matching scarf. I had the yarn in my own stash. I really like the colours on that set.

I don't make a good model but I am not sure what to call these items. THey are a scarf but can pull up into a hood. I thought they would be great next winter when we go to the beaches etc. I can just have it around my neck and pull it up when its windy and pull close around the face. Great for under the hood on my coat as well.

I didn't have as much yarn for the yellow one but it will work for me. I would put it on the other way though so it fits better......I want to make more of these because I really liked them. I think they will be useful.

The other things I am finishing off are a couple of crochet pouches that I will show later I think I will line them and put closures on them for holding items in a purse.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-56715932033979257792021-04-14T16:33:00.001-04:002021-04-14T16:45:28.881-04:00Samaritan's Closet..................On our adventures yesterday we made our usual stop at Samaritan's Closet in lake leelanau. I really didn't need anything, I never do. I see it as a donation (sort of). Well I found a few things as I usually do. I guess I am looking now for things and ideas for the garden. I found this small pitcher and basin that I will put an Ivy in for the front porch maybe (or back)
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bWPE4BObLSk/YHdPdgFUn1I/AAAAAAACjrk/bFPhtP6tSiEFC07BIheGYvZmOU80B20IQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210413_163229.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bWPE4BObLSk/YHdPdgFUn1I/AAAAAAACjrk/bFPhtP6tSiEFC07BIheGYvZmOU80B20IQCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210413_163229.jpg"/></a></div>
Tell me why I can't resist "stuffies"? I bought a couple of puppies that were just so cute and a bear that jumped in my cart. Honest it did.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Su4wpMu_48A/YHdPvt1Ww9I/AAAAAAACjrs/HKaPobEugrsfrm6KDTjKn6J3fkOiqpL3gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210413_162953.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Su4wpMu_48A/YHdPvt1Ww9I/AAAAAAACjrs/HKaPobEugrsfrm6KDTjKn6J3fkOiqpL3gCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210413_162953.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gHTh2obRo80/YHdPz92HGCI/AAAAAAACjrw/PBRREacs3aQfCcA5Ie8DZaMEvD7oIxHzQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210413_163002.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gHTh2obRo80/YHdPz92HGCI/AAAAAAACjrw/PBRREacs3aQfCcA5Ie8DZaMEvD7oIxHzQCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210413_163002.jpg"/></a></div>
They have all found homes around the house (Till Tristen discovers them, even at his age he loves his stuffies). I also found a bird house that was signed and was rather nice.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RaEnt5cYwVY/YHdQHHQJoII/AAAAAAACjr8/GeXAi-pi59U5Rf9pXwX_r5PR-6rCEtO5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210413_163033.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RaEnt5cYwVY/YHdQHHQJoII/AAAAAAACjr8/GeXAi-pi59U5Rf9pXwX_r5PR-6rCEtO5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210413_163033.jpg"/></a></div>
I will spray that with some Krylene or whatever it's called, so the paint stays on. The Pansies are hand painted and it was just 2 dollars.
The last thing is a very pretty mirror for a ladies purse. I have no use for it but will tuck it in with someones Christmas gift maybe. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JmIeo0pjnTE/YHdQoF9NbLI/AAAAAAACjsE/LpItsryNgOAlJFwmqbSjiFLiOkw7l76NACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210413_163104.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JmIeo0pjnTE/YHdQoF9NbLI/AAAAAAACjsE/LpItsryNgOAlJFwmqbSjiFLiOkw7l76NACLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210413_163104.jpg"/></a></div>
In all it came to 10 dollars. I didn't linger at the books because a lady was working her way through the stash and I have books I am still working on so......next time maybe........I did put back a crystal sugar bowl.........I think if it's still there next time I won't resist. I use the pretty bowls to put my stones in. The Petoskey's and blues I find on the beach.
I forgot to show the scarf I knitted for Gerry from the yarn I got at Samaritan's Closet. It turned out soft and quite nice

Its been rather empty of late but I found out they had opened up the back area so there's more to look at. Anyway. I picked up two cushions that I saw the last time I was in there. They will replace a couple on my couch so I can put two more outside.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9K1noKjzLEw/YGz9c1gM-sI/AAAAAAACjkg/ouRkghR0FQAE4ubuPZi4FJ1RCalP93-1ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210406_183216.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9K1noKjzLEw/YGz9c1gM-sI/AAAAAAACjkg/ouRkghR0FQAE4ubuPZi4FJ1RCalP93-1ACLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210406_183216.jpg"/></a></div>
I don't go for this sort of thing but will put it on the front porch for now.

I can always put it in a yard sale when I go off of it. I just had to get these cups and saucers etc. You will see the price for the cup and saucer is 34 dollars and is made in Occupied Japan. I paid one dollar for it. The little milk jug and saucer was also one dollar.

I love that the cup has a tea strainer with it. How cool is that.
I did get a jar with a cork stopper in aqua glass, I forgot to take a picture of that. So a successful day I think.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-70398645786438965382021-03-18T19:57:00.002-04:002021-03-18T19:57:50.733-04:00Samaritan's Closet.....................Gerry seems to think that it's worth a stop because he usually does. He doesn't go in but must think I get bargains. I think I do.
So do I need any of it? Nope but I think of it as a donation, I get something for the donation, but as I said I don't need it. I do like it though. SO today's finds. I am not sure where they will go but they always find a home.
First thing...........this fish. It is so beautiful the pictures don't do it justice and this will sit in the living room rather than out at the pond where I originally intended.

I claimed some yarn that was new in. 2.00 each. How could I not get it? I will knit them up into scarves for Winter.

I bought the bottles and jars for their colour, not sure if I have room in my kitchen but if not then I can put fresh flowers on the porch.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qZ0KvMIkur0/YFPkO3dt29I/AAAAAAACjQg/Fle_jaHgvXUGzpUXZPKYTkyc_xs8saznACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210318_165035.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qZ0KvMIkur0/YFPkO3dt29I/AAAAAAACjQg/Fle_jaHgvXUGzpUXZPKYTkyc_xs8saznACLcBGAsYHQ/s600/20210318_165035.jpg"/></a></div>

Then I found a bowl. I love it and will use it as a fruit bowl. It has sunflowers and a rooster on it

The other thing I got was a pair of leggins/pants that will go with a long Navy tunic.
So those were my finds for this day. The prices are good and I love the store its so fresh and clean. A new building and all the precautions we live with today.
Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-68902079323548015052021-03-15T18:41:00.000-04:002021-03-15T18:41:08.101-04:00I am back with projects...............I know, it's been a very long time. I decided to take a break from blogging for many reasons but now I find I miss it and so here we are
I think I will start with this........I spend way too much time on Facebook. I enjoy it but find I have no time for other things. I want to do so much more and so by limiting my time there, I can read...........I have read several books now, actually maybe 8. I am knitting, I am crocheting and sewing. I want to paint too. First I have to paint over some garden stuff I bought and the paint is flaking, so before I put it outside again I need to paint over and spray so that I don't have to do it again next year. I also want to repaint some bird houses I have made in the past.
I will show some of my projects here. Some not yet finished.
This is my project box of finished things that will make gifts next Christmas.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/DuLfQ6.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/DuLfQ6.jpg"/></a></div>
So far it has in it some bags I made last year, pillow cases and kitchen hot pads and things I have forgotten...........So as to knitting I am making hats and scarves for next Winter......
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/HXim5y.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/HXim5y.jpg"/></a></div>
I had another ball of this yarn and so will make another. It's so soft
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/yLd6na.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/yLd6na.jpg"/></a></div>
I finished a hat and am now making a scarf to match. The hat has to be sewn together yet.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/mIaD09.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/mIaD09.jpg"/></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/jpPbls.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/jpPbls.jpg"/></a></div>
Then I have two quilts that need to be backed and finished and I have to do that myself now Barb is not doing anymore of mine. She is only doing large quilts now she is retired.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/CLGADD.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/CLGADD.jpg"/></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/2u7Eqc.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/2u7Eqc.jpg"/></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/E9uB8g.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/E9uB8g.jpg"/></a></div>
My stash is in the dining room now, at least half of it so that it's not so intimidating when all in the same space. I will work my way through it and move more here as I need to. Lots of plans and projects in mind. This also helps me to weed out the books I know I will never use.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/8Xj14o.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/8Xj14o.jpg"/></a></div>
I had made several crochet Kitchen pads. Then a couple will be backed onto hot pads.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/LWH1Ix.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/LWH1Ix.jpg"/></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/Mt0Ybe.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/Mt0Ybe.jpg"/></a></div>
I knitted two cowls, they are soft and I had wanted to see if they would work better than a scarf. We shall see next year. Hope I don't need them this year. One in Pink and one in Yellow
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/fzxIyK.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/fzxIyK.jpg"/></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/fzdMxM.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/fzdMxM.jpg"/></a></div>
Maybe a basket? Need to stiffen it first and can use for all sorts of things but maybe yarn odds and ends. The second one is made by Kim a wood working friend. A beautiful gift
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/voaAAI.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/voaAAI.jpg"/></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/abckeO.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/abckeO.jpg"/></a></div>
So what else have I been doing? Ah who remembers French Knitting, well I used up some cotton yarn and did some. I will sew it together and make a circle for a hot pad. Think I may just do more of that its fun.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/9NWujk.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/9NWujk.jpg"/></a></div>
It will soon be time to work out in the garden and then I will restart my garden blog. We have to take down our fences so the city can put in sidewalks. There will be a lot to do out there this year. For now things are quiet, no birds or beasts the last few weeks. It's been really windy and cold and I am sure the birds are looking for nests. I think maybe my Possom is busy too.
This table runner I made intending it to be a gift but it was not made well enough so I am using it myself<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/lbVu9Y.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/924/lbVu9Y.jpg"/></a></div>
This is one of many bags I made last year and that I have found very useful. I will be making more to give away
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/9BGOVJ.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="450" src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/922/9BGOVJ.jpg"/></a></div>
I had found some really cool fabrics to make bags out of..........I just hope I can give them away. Laura took a whole bunch so I must find new victims.
I better stop for now. I will put some other projects on here later in another post.
Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-30589195882158872482020-03-05T16:49:00.000-05:002020-03-05T16:49:32.545-05:00Leftovers...........what to do.Gerry made spaghetti yesterday. He made way too much and we didn't have any meatballs or anything so it was just plain. Fine. I don't mind that. Well we went shopping at Sam's we needed a few things. They have these packages of Rotisserie chicken thighs, There is enough in them for us for at least two meals. As I am never sure how "fresh" they are I don't want them sitting in the fridge too long so...........as we had a whole bunch of leftover spaghetti and just a little sauce I made up a quick meal.<br />
I had Gerry take the chicken off the bones for me. There was a lot of it. I took most of the noodles and put those in the bottom of an 8x8 dish. I sprinkled shredded cheese over it and topped with chicken shredded. On top of that I put the left over sauce. Not quite enough so I added a can of Diced tomatoes with peppers. I had used Mrs Dash as seasoning. On top or all of that I put the rest of the shredded cheese. That baked about 1/2 hour (350) until the cheese was browned and crunchy. I have to say it was Delicious. I will definitely do that again. <br />

I wish I had thought to take pictures before it was cut, it looks sort of messy here, don't let that fool ya, it's awesome. Sort of like spaghetti but with that Mexican tang. <br />
There was still a lot of chicken left. I gave the Poodles all some as a treat. I set aside enough for sandwiches tomorrow and made soup<br />
So here is the quick soup method. 1 can of chicken broth. I can of Campbell's cream of chicken soup. I can of mixed veggies (with the water) add the chicken and salt. I cut up the left over noodles and it all made enough to have tomorrow with a chicken sandwich. Then the next day a big bowl of soup when we (hopefully) get home from our day out. So all in all the chicken that was ready cooked and under 5 dollars made us not only supper tonight but for two more days also and left overs from tonight's meal for lunch tomorrow.<br />

Rotisserie chickens, the whole chickens also make a great way of a cheap meal. For the two of us it makes 3 or 4 meals. So there are ways to use the leftovers and make tasty and quick meals. Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-19971129865335003032019-07-26T18:30:00.000-04:002019-07-26T18:30:48.637-04:00More Thrifts .........A few things I found this week, When I stopped at the Thrift shop when I dropped off the poodles. The Goodwill shop next to the groomers sometimes has good things. I must say though that the prices have really gone up beginning to make it less of a thrill to find things. I really don't need anything else, I have replaced the broken things in the garden and really don't need any more. Having said that, I found this glass item that would make a great flower center.I may make that because I do have a nice glass plate that would work with it. <br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmxAzhqkj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/xAzhqk.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I gave Laura some of the glass dishes I had found so picked up 3 more at 50 cents each. We stopped at the Samaritans closet out in Lake Leelanau. Boy they sure get some nice furniture in. Anyway, this is button glass, its heavy cut glass but I am not sure of its original use. Maybe posh people used them as butter dishes. I will use them for other things, like pretty stones.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pllyyFCuj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/lyyFCu.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Talking of Button (or daisy) glass I found some pretty amber glass and I can't remember is I showed that before.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poOF1GMqj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/OF1GMq.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poDnt5akj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/Dnt5ak.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poNfQ1Mpj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/NfQ1Mp.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmLagudnj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/Lagudn.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I seldom buy clothes at thrift shops but have to say sometimes I can't resist. I found two tank tops I thought they would work for around the house. I used to wear tops like this all the time and gradually threw out many of them so.....I got two. <br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plKDZAX7j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/KDZAX7.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I couldn't leave this tea/coffee pot, I had intended it for the garden but actually its the colours of my dining room so for now I found it a spot<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmLfeU4rj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/LfeU4r.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I really don't have room for anymore tea pots or cups. At some point, when ready to downsize I will sell them on line maybe......but not yet.<br />
This guy will go in the garden<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnTa3TPLj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/Ta3TPL.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I enjoy finding pretty things even though I don't need them. If I don't make something out of them, then they go in a yard sale or if I just love them they stay somewhere in the house. I found this chicken plate and that one went<br />
in the kitchen.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/po297fMej"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/297fMe.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Going with my chicken theme. I have moved a couple of chucks into the garden, they would look better if I could get the weeding done but ah well. Always hope the garden would be pretty in the fall Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-73678338538456717332019-07-11T18:24:00.000-04:002019-07-11T18:24:27.291-04:00chicken burrito/enchilada............One of the favourite suppers is my version of a burrito/enchilada. I use what I have on hand and usually have a stock of things in my larder. Tonight I had some frozen cooked chicken. I had some left over green peppers, onions and a can of tomato with peppers. I did not have an enchilada mix but had taco so what the heck not a lot of difference in taste and as it was the filling it hardly mattered. It tasted good. <br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poxfMIKMj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/xfMIKM.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I usually have wraps and for this I use the large ones.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pngOR2gpj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/gOR2gp.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Fill with the cooked chicken veggie mix<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poVJiWwpj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/VJiWwp.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
This made 10. Fill and put in a large dish and cover in Enchilada sauce.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plgmyPrQj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/gmyPrQ.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmC1t4Kfj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/C1t4Kf.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
This is where I over do it, on purpose. I used almost a whole packet of shredded Mexican mix cheese. I love cheese.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnj9mYPij"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/j9mYPi.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Bake at 350 for long enough to melt the cheese and I like it crisp. As everything is pre cooked it takes less than half hour depending on how done you want your cheese.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pns6izMaj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/s6izMa.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pl3RR6hOj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/3RR6hO.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
When its the amount of brownness you like take it out and serve it up. Some people let these things "rest" I don't haha. I love my cheese and can't wait.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmLFgcBXj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/LFgcBX.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Enjoy......a quick and tasty dinner that can be made ahead and just popped in the oven when ready.<br />
Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-84807154669049853442019-07-08T19:46:00.001-04:002019-07-08T19:46:54.856-04:00Wow another trip to the thrift shop..........Reina had spied some shoes she liked at the Thrift store yesterday, so I took her back today. They didn't fit but I found a couple of tank tops and cat toy for her. <br />
Unfortunately or fortunately depending upon how you look at it. I spent 50 dollars. Well, mostly I hope for the garden but will probably trade a few things out with what I already have.<br />
First. I love this teapot and will keep it in the house and find one to put outside<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pm7znWs7j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/7znWs7.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I also found a couple of Tea Cups and will keep the flowers one and swap out one that I am not keen on.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmA8b4Hrj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/A8b4Hr.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnzqSOwkj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/zqSOwk.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
That reminds me I think I have more cups and saucers in the garage......I also found some more glass dishes. So now I can give a few to Laura. You can tell the cut glass or crystal by the weight. She wants some to put stones in,beach finds. I am thinking this week to have Reina do some decorating to take back to Laura, stones that is and beach glass.<br />
This one is heavy<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnyV4iMij"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/yV4iMi.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plQPVKuIj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/QPVKuI.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Specifically for the garden, yet another lamp<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plkXbBcsj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/kXbBcs.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Then a nice red bottle, I will swap out one of the plain ones.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plGeFaKZj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/GeFaKZ.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
This is a very heavy glass ball, not sure of it's original purpose. I will put it on a stand outside. It's a strange colour and is flat on the bottom so I may have to stick something on it haha.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnKUCEo3j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/KUCEo3.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
This little house will go in my collection. English houses not specifically these type. I just liked this one<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pojIoF63j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/jIoF63.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Last but not least this little candle holder. It will be used on an outside project somehow.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plEqq6rKj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/Eqq6rK.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I think I better stay out of the Thrift stores for awhile. Right?..........Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-36318864024177497442019-07-06T20:41:00.000-04:002019-07-06T20:41:06.539-04:00Ooooh pretty things........It's been awhile since I went to Thrift Shops. When we were out the other day I stopped at a yard sale and found a few things that gave me the bug again. This lady had some nice things I thought I could use in the garden. I just have to figure out how. Anyway they are still awaiting me to decide.Today though I went to Goodwill but yesterday we stopped in Beaulah and found a shop by accident and oh boy I must go back there.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poOI3Puuj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/OI3Puu.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmUqSS39j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/UqSS39.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I put that one in the kitchen. <br />
Then I have to find a place for these beauties. The prices, wow, 2.75 for the above and .75 for this hand painted one<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plj1TGpnj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/j1TGpn.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I must find a spot in the dining room for this one.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnRQ1J8jj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/RQ1J8j.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/po2k5jEoj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/2k5jEo.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I have a couple of others by the same maker. This one is so pretty and made in Bavaria<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poBb9iDxj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/Bb9iDx.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Then I got a few little things I can put together for a mini bird bath maybe<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pokJ9Qxjj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/kJ9Qxj.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/poo8LC6yj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/o8LC6y.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
The base is a rose vase and if I put it together it would look like this.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnud4nIrj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/ud4nIr.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Those little bits and pieces I think I may have got at a yard sale in Suttons Bay. At the "new" thrift shop I found another lantern for the garden.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pl3fsb2ij"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/3fsb2i.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I like those and will either hang them along the garage or on Shepherds crooks. Its so much fun to find things, this was 2.00. Ya can't beat the price. Right now it has a candle in it but I may put a glass ball inside. <br />
We shall see.<br />
Anyway, today I found a few things as well. A nice thing for the garden. What is it? No idea but I like it.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/po5HCrnij"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/924/5HCrni.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Also found a nice bowl, Laura is looking for glass bowls to put stones in. I may keep this one, not sure.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmx5lrmdj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/x5lrmd.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
This mini frame I will show Reina how to draw a bee and put it in there to take home.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmUHr2g0j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/UHr2g0.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
So I have been rather successful I think. It's addicting as anyone who likes yard sales and thrift stores knows. Maybe Reina will like to go haha. I know I must go back to the shop in Benzonia, it has such awesome things. I saw a candlewick bedspread for 14 dollars. I need to have a good look at that. Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-89983086971615950032019-06-22T20:18:00.002-04:002019-06-22T20:18:21.255-04:00June Yard Sale.............Tristen wanted to stop at some yard sales and so we did. Found one good one. Good for me anyway although he didn't find anything. I was looking for garden items really. Instead I found some china and glass that I may be able to use outside. I am not sure about the teapot, its a bit too pretty to put outside.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pndkAKM3j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/dkAKM3.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Same with this little German milk jug. A bit too small to call a jug so I suppose it's a creamer?<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmjpCX78j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/jpCX78.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I found this little chookie and he can be in the garden, I think in the herb garden.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmjAmkw9j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/jAmkw9.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I really do not need any more glass dishes but for a dollar I am thinking I can use this one in the garden somehow. Also two glass lids that I got both for a dollar.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pn7LmuCOj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/7LmuCO.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnZe5DUgj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/Ze5DUg.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmdKw1SWj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/dKw1SW.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
That lady had some nice things but I really didn't need any more cups or dishes otherwise I could have got some good deals. I found this lantern that I will hang on a Shepherds hook in the garden.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plG69Nugj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/G69Nug.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
We did stop at one more but nothing there that we could use. Just as well. I am not sure what I will do with what I got but will do something. The teapot was to go outside but I think I will swap it for a different one I can find one with chips on I am sure. Also have the one I got the other day to put outside<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pmXxCgEuj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/XxCgEu.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I'm not sure what I will do with that one yet either.............<br />
Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-33597665076102509472019-06-14T13:27:00.001-04:002019-06-14T13:27:48.993-04:00A long time..............It's been a long time since I was last in a thrift shop. At least it certainly seems so. The one that was a regular for me upped their prices. Now it's hardly worth it. I mean, I know it's giving to charity and all that but if I have to pay more for something that I can get in the dollar store why bother. I am mainly looking for things to decorate the garden, and cheap as possible. Well today I thought I would have a look, I did find a couple of things.<br />
This stepping stone will go in my pet cemetary.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnViLCA2j"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/ViLCA2.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
The writing is very faded but I will go over the words. It reminds me so much of Buttons I had to have it for her. She is not in the garden because she was cremated and is in my bedroom, but, that and a plant will memorialize her.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pltJyivdj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/tJyivd.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I was actually looking for teapots and didn't find any there but stopped in one more shop on the way home and found this one.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pm0lgEogj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/922/0lgEog.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
Its just to sit in the garden and was only 2.00 so that was about right for me. I am not sure if I will make anything with it, or just sit it somewhere. We shall see. <br />
The lady who moved in across the Ally from me makes the garden ornaments like I do but hers are nicer. I thought I would have another go haha. <br />
This next item, also 2.00 I put in the kitchen. So unless it gets broken that's where it will live. It had the hanger with it so that was handy and made my descision. I had another plate there but it got knocked down and broken. I actually have some dessert plates that would be just perfect with this for a tea party.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pncRzkvej"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/cRzkve.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
A piece of Carnival glass for 3.50. Not sure what to do with it but it's in the kitchen window till I decide<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/plTK2psBj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/921/TK2psB.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
I bought this just for the colour of the glass. An oil lamp that hangs so will hang in a tree maybe or on a Shepherds hook? Anyway for 2.50 I love the colour.<br />
<a target="_blank" href="https://imageshack.com/i/pnfUZafBj"><img src="https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/fUZafB.jpg" border="0"></a><br />
When I took the picture of the tea pot I sat it on a doily, that reminded me that I found a whole bunch of linens at a yard sale the other week while out and about. I got a whole bunch of them for a couple of dollars each all hand made. I have no need of them but will always buy them when I see hand made things. So out of style now but I use them all over my house regardless.<br />

Last but not least a pair of sandals/slides just what I needed and at 4.50 not a bad find. Especially as I needed a replacement black pair. I am not proud, I will buy used if I find them. They fit and are comfortable. So why not<br />

Well that little effort got me in the mood for thrifting again. Trouble is you can spend a lot on things one really does not need. Ah well............never mind. It's fun.I guess the shoes made what I spent worth it because the total was probably what I would have paid for the shoes in a store.<br />

Unusual for me. I find it hard to get into it. However I have found that in doing small projects that get done quickly I can be more likely to finish things. I did a post previously on some things I had started, well I finally finished those and several others.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190320_181929_zps1a7d7kgu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190320_181929_zps1a7d7kgu.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190320_181929_zps1a7d7kgu.jpg"/></a><br />
I really like these bowl buddies and will continue to make these because I want some as gifts and I want some myself.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190319_162102%201_zps2urnjwy7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190319_162102%201_zps2urnjwy7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190319_162102 1_zps2urnjwy7.jpg"/></a><br />
Then the other thing is the bags I was making. I gave the first ones to Carrie. I mailed those out, not sure what she kept if anything but she said she was sending stuff to Haley and the rest were for Teal. So I have made some just to keep and maybe give away some at Christmas.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190317_151652_zpsiatouypi.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190317_151652_zpsiatouypi.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190317_151652_zpsiatouypi.jpg"/></a><br />

All the bags are done with French seams to stop fraying and also strength. The purple with two rows of beads Gabby wanted.<br />

I am using up things I have had on hand for a long time so my expense at this time in minimal. I like the chicken tote'<br />
I have not done hand sewing in a long time. I found that I had to sew the beads on by hand but buttons were a challenge too. My eyes are not what they once were.<br />

I liked the cane handles and they are not expensive so I bought several more so I can put them on some other bags soon.<br />

It's hard to sew by hand but I am doing it. My fingers are sore haha. Anyway, When I was out with Edna the other day I picked up some fat 1/4s with cherries on. I decided to make some cushion covers for the front porch. That went very quickly but I still have to sew the buttons on one of them. I think they will be pretty. I will need to do a couple more. I also did some Tea Towels, just putting the borders on.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190313_122555_zpsgxp8qwog.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190313_122555_zpsgxp8qwog.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190313_122555_zpsgxp8qwog.jpg"/></a><br />
The main fabric on the cushions are on the back.<br />
<a href="https://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190320_130533_zpspukyqzo9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190320_130533_zpspukyqzo9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190320_130533_zpspukyqzo9.jpg"/></a><br />
With the new bench on the front porch I don't think I will need a seat pad like the old one so at this point I'm not sure how many cushions I will need, but think I will get some more cherry fabric for that.<br />
<a href="https://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190320_131809_zpsdufhzzio.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190320_131809_zpsdufhzzio.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190320_131809_zpsdufhzzio.jpg"/></a><br />
Well now, I have been busy and have loads more to do. I have been through my fabric and my patterns. I have some other small projects that will be fun. I think I am just putting off doing the bigger things, like the lap quilts. Ah well, I will get around to it in due time. If the weather improves I will soon be working outside again.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-29015177835814975742019-03-03T20:01:00.000-05:002019-03-03T20:01:21.966-05:00Sewing again, at last..............My sewing machine has been sitting there on the dining table for months. Well lets see, at least since Christmas. Guess that's not too long but the thing was, it was not being used. I made a start and since then I have made myself do something every day. Having made a start it seems like it gets easier. I see progress and want to do more. I have made pillow cases for Teal and a tote bag for her. I have made kitchen things to send along for Carrie. Soup bowl holders and pot holders. I am enjoying making simple things that I can get done quickly.<br />
I have enjoyed making some Tote bags. I made the boys each a small bag to carry small things, not sure the effort was appreciated haha. Cooper said "why did she give us an empty bag"? Tristen said "She made it for us" ......Cooper was not impressed. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190302_141231_zpswwyd6iyh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190302_141231_zpswwyd6iyh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190302_141231_zpswwyd6iyh.jpg"/></a><br />
Ah well you can't always win I suppose.<br />
So I went back to making more adult Totes. These now need hand sewing. I need to get the handles sewn on and buttons placed.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190228_144037_zpsnih3jqcg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190228_144037_zpsnih3jqcg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190228_144037_zpsnih3jqcg.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190228_153817_zpsyu38wz0r.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190228_153817_zpsyu38wz0r.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190228_153817_zpsyu38wz0r.jpg"/></a><br />
I did buy fabric especially for making tote bags. I also bought patterns for more complicated purses, but not sure I have the patience. I tell ya that ol seem ripper has seen some use this past week. I do not like that.<br />
This was meant as a beach bag, I finally finished it. There is another that needs putting together next but I need something for straps.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190303_134232_zpsmdh3uuto.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190303_134232_zpsmdh3uuto.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190303_134232_zpsmdh3uuto.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190303_134223_zpsfzigos5y.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190303_134223_zpsfzigos5y.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190303_134223_zpsfzigos5y.jpg"/></a><br />
I liked the colour combination on that one and also on this smaller tote.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190225_125309_zpsrogeo39n.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190225_125309_zpsrogeo39n.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190225_125309_zpsrogeo39n.jpg"/></a><br />
All of them are made with French seams so they are strong and do not fray. The plastic beach bags I just did double stitches and reinforced the straps. <br />
I am eager now to finish the other one. Meanwhile I look forward to using up a lot more fabric. I think I will take some to Donna as well so I can really get my stash down to a good size. I know I will soon tire of sewing and each time it's harder to get back into it. I think I will make some more pillow cases, they use a good bit up and are quick and easy. I will also make some cushion covers for Spring to put out on the benches outside. <br />
I have the quilts that are cut out and started so while I am in the mood I better do as much as possible.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-13536888618712493862019-02-24T19:47:00.000-05:002019-02-24T19:47:45.114-05:00Sewing projects.........I have not posted on here since Christmas. Wow, well just shows that I have not done a whole lot. I have got back into sewing somewhat. I posted a few projects on my Bluebell Woods blog because I was thinking of closing this one. It just seemed like there was nothing going on to post here.<br />
Well, now there is.<br />
I found that I had a pattern, so simple that it is, for hot pads to hold soup bowls in the microwave.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190219_140055_zpsnbtxeixo.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190219_140055_zpsnbtxeixo.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190219_140055_zpsnbtxeixo.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_150943_zpsx8t4z068.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_150943_zpsx8t4z068.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_150943_zpsx8t4z068.jpg"/></a><br />
They are getting easier to make now.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_150935_zpseru8qdb7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_150935_zpseru8qdb7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_150935_zpseru8qdb7.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_152319_zpsdgluay20.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_152319_zpsdgluay20.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_152319_zpsdgluay20.jpg"/></a><br />
I do believe I will make quite a few of these. I can give them away. I will also be making hot pad mats. Things to put on the counter to put hot dishes on. I have loads of thermolene and can use that for pot holders too and lunch bags.<br />
Talking of bags. I made a bag to put Emily's baby shower gift in. She loved it and wanted another so I had more fairy fabric and just enough for another bag.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_151013_zpsk28umhht.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_151013_zpsk28umhht.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_151013_zpsk28umhht.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_151032_zps2s5neim3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_151032_zps2s5neim3.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_151032_zps2s5neim3.jpg"/></a><br />
This week I think I will get the pillow cases that I made for Teal in the mail. I made her a tote bag that I got finished today. So once the storm blows out and the roads are clear I will get those in the mail.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_152406_zpsor0aptje.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_152406_zpsor0aptje.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_152406_zpsor0aptje.jpg"/></a><br />
I put the straps on the inside and have double sewn the seams. I hope its strong enough. <br />

Well in order to match fabrics the pile on the table just got bigger. The fabric I have now in the cabinet are larger pieces and so I would like to use up all these scraps.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0219/20190224_151045_zpsopsyp7bt.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0219/20190224_151045_zpsopsyp7bt.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20190224_151045_zpsopsyp7bt.jpg"/></a><br />
<br />
I have the fabric set for 3 quilts and two of them are half done. So those will probably be next. I will have to have Edna come and help me when its time to tie them. I want to tie at least two of them. My friend Barb who is the long arm quilter goes away for Winters now. She won't have time for my stuff so I have to learn to do it myself. <br />
The Quilts I have finished by tying have lasted well so why not. Just got to remember how.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-39962842646631353612018-11-28T18:25:00.000-05:002018-11-28T18:25:02.876-05:00Christmas decorating............Here it is again, time to decorate for Christmas. I was not going to ever go all out again with my decorating but this year I have a plan. I will do it.<br />
Here is the plan. I am going to put everything away (everyday stuff). When Spring comes and I am ready to put away Christmas I will have sorted everything out. That way next year it should be much simpler to find things. Gerry hauled up all the boxes from storage and nothing is going back (under the stairs) I will have everything next year where I can get my hands on them.<br />
The Entrance. (note that there is now a dresser in there and I have no ornaments for it haha) <br />

Right now my house is a total disaster. Every room is a mess. Is anyone else like this. If one room is in chaos I feel like the whole house is. I also found out while packing up some of the dining room just how dusty things are. Everything will have to get washed when I take it back out. No point in doing it now. <br />
I didn't do much in the small bathroom but gave it just a tad of Christmas spirit.<br />

I have found I have a forest of (fake)trees for outside and in. I'm not sure where they all came from. I can probably keep most of those and maybe decorate them. I can decorate the porch and deck with some of them. I will select the ones for inside and keep the best for that. I think I gave Laura my Angels but kept the red and gold ones. I have Santa's and snowmen but again I don't remember what I kept. This will be fun finding out again what I have, like old friends. At this point in life I have things like a Santa someone made in my quilting class, she has since died so I think of her every year. <br />
Dining room.... well, the sewing machine is still out and once this is finished I can get to sewing yeahhhh. Gabby says she remembers the little kissing bears from when she was little.<br />

I am taking a break because although I only packed 1/2 a room I am already whooped. The first day I could not stop and found myself getting up all evening and poking around.<br />
Living room, this is the room most used, I suppose its the family room. I never know what the rooms are in this house as we have the extra room.<br />

I will seperate the outside stuff and inside stuff and pack it all seperately when the time comes, right now it's all together.<br />
Progess, I found the trees that light and still work for the back. Have two for the house that light (except they didn't light up once I plugged them in). Lights for the deck did work woo hoo. <br />
The front room, I suppose it was once the Parlour. <br />

We did get a sprinkle of snow so that made things look better outside. The squirrels are very hungry and keeping birds away so I have to chase them periodically. Fat little Squirrels, time for a few weeks nap maybe. I will have to go get more bird food at this rate<br />
Well one good thing I found all my photo chips that have been lost forever they were in a tiny drawer in a small chest. I was about to send for more. They are expensive so this has been worth it for that alone. The cats are being wayyyyyy too helpful and if not careful will get packed away in a box till Spring.<br />
The front porch<br />

So now to pack all the very small things. One thing that decided me was how very dusty everything is. Come Spring all this china must be washed. It looks like I still have all my snowmen and Santa's I must have just given Laura the Angels. I have way too many trees, its like a bloody forest in here. Still thats OK. I will use what I need and will know to get rid of the rest. I have 3 green (new) wreaths, they would make great gifts for next year decorated with some of my ornaments and balls.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1118/119_0637_zpsaek1yfpf.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1118/119_0637_zpsaek1yfpf.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 119_0637_zpsaek1yfpf.jpg"/></a><br />
Since last time I decorated I have added a dresser in the entrance. Glad I didn't pack that stuff away just yet because nothing left to decorate it now. That's Ok though as nothing that is on there will go in my sale. I may just hit the resale shops haha, please no, don't let me do it.<br />
I have had lots more energy, the cold lasted two weeks and the cough meds made me lethargic and tired. I kept falling asleep. Anyway, I was up at 6.30 this morning rather than the 9am it has been the past two weeks. So lets get this done. I have boxes to haul downstairs that will about kill me but it has to be done. Gerry can barely walk when he gets home. I told him it's time to quit. In this cold he just can't do it anymore. The money would be nice but...........not worth it.<br />
Back deck, looks better when it gets dark and the lights show<br />

Just tweeking left to do now. I asked Gabby if she would like to decorate the tree with Cooper he has never done that before. All kids should be able to decorate the Christmas tree. So I sorted my ornaments and chose what I wanted on this tree, there's not room for them all on this tree.I also set aside some tin ornaments to put on another tree. He was so chuffed to do that and enjoyed himself I think. <br />
Gerry quit early, he was just not up to working. So after he rested up he took the empty boxes to the garage and I was able to finish up. I have one box of things left to sort, but its mainly Poinsiettas and holly that I will set around later. <br />
Thanks goodness that's done. Just 3 days that was quicker than I thought...........rather boring post but there ya goJanice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-86646663490616278662018-10-28T13:30:00.000-04:002018-10-28T13:30:20.352-04:00Pumpkins.................I love the shape of Pumpkins. I do not and have never celebrated Halloween but I love Harvest time and Autumn decorations. I began to "collect" Pumpkins one year when I visited Bier Gallery. I began by buying some of the "froggie" sculptures. One happened to be on a Pumpkin. I bought him plus a plain one to stand together.<br />
I just love my froggies.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124436_zpssybqzuhr.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124436_zpssybqzuhr.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124436_zpssybqzuhr.jpg"/></a><br />
Anyway, not long after that we stopped at the Glass blowers in East Jordan. I was collecting glass balls at that time but saw a pumpkin one Autumn and could not resist. So this was my first.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124517_zpscnusnalj.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124517_zpscnusnalj.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124517_zpscnusnalj.jpg"/></a><br />
The next year we took Tristen to see him work and I got another<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124531_zpsbryeif6d.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124531_zpsbryeif6d.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124531_zpsbryeif6d.jpg"/></a><br />
Anyway, I think it's the shape and in these glass ones, it's how he forms the vines. We intended taking the boys this weekend but Tristen was sick so it was just Cooper this time. I had seen the Facebook page and saw a green Pumpkin I liked and so that was a good opportunity to get a 3rd one to make a set. I asked for a Ladybug to put on it and the man kindly did that for me.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_130725_zpswfmlgl3y.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_130725_zpswfmlgl3y.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_130725_zpswfmlgl3y.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124454_zpsvmumriqj.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124454_zpsvmumriqj.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124454_zpsvmumriqj.jpg"/></a><br />
I may like this green one best of all. Last time we went to Bier Gallery I got another froggie on a pumpkin, although this one is more like a gourd, I still count him in my Pumpkin collection. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124422_zpsl92vlgcv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124422_zpsl92vlgcv.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124422_zpsl92vlgcv.jpg"/></a><br />
I do put Pumpkins outside for Autumn decoration but we don't do carved ones. No devil associations here thank you.<br />
I do love this one that I found a long time ago for Harvest Festival.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124643_zpsq1yzj4vg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124643_zpsq1yzj4vg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124643_zpsq1yzj4vg.jpg"/></a><br />
I decorate with flowers and gourds and love how pretty it can look. This next one is a patchwork Pumpkin<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124656_zpsh5fzzltw.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124656_zpsh5fzzltw.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124656_zpsh5fzzltw.jpg"/></a><br />
I want to make some knitted ones but I keep the ones I have inside all year around and don't want to get into another season of decorating the house inside. I have seen some great ideas for others too that are fabric and maybe some day I will get those done. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124652_zpsecyyjyk5.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124652_zpsecyyjyk5.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124652_zpsecyyjyk5.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124648_zpsoztf3syr.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124648_zpsoztf3syr.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124648_zpsoztf3syr.jpg"/></a><br />
Cooper brought a real pumpkin home from school but they know we don't carve them so it sits on the porch. Today it had a leaf attached and look pretty cute I thought. The real one will eventually get eaten by Squirrels and Crows so will not go to waste. I will put it on the garden once it snows.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181028_124710_zpslqonzqot.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181028_124710_zpslqonzqot.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181028_124710_zpslqonzqot.jpg"/></a><br />
My friend Nancy made the little house, so I set it out with the pumpkins <br />

It will soon be time to decorate for Winter and Christmas, but for now it's all nice and bright for this beautiful season.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-82795537050802456892018-10-20T12:59:00.002-04:002018-10-20T13:01:36.861-04:00Craft shows....................Today there was a craft show just down the road from us. I wanted to go out to Gallagher's Farm to get some apples and bread. They have that awesome Pizza bread. I figured I would make spaghetti tonight and maybe some meatballs. Then tomorrow maybe Chili.... so I bought two pizza breads and a multi grain one so that if we polish off the pizza bread tonight we have that as backup. As I already ate some, well.....<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181020_103846_zpsvcrm06rl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181020_103846_zpsvcrm06rl.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181020_103846_zpsvcrm06rl.jpg"/></a><br />
It was raining and it turned to snow.......yes snow.'<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181020_103908_zpss4pzr7k1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181020_103908_zpss4pzr7k1.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181020_103908_zpss4pzr7k1.jpg"/></a><br />

While we were out I asked Gerry if we could stop at the craft show at the church. I knew Gerry probably would not want to go, but, he said he would wait in the car. Cooper and I went in. Boy that church is huge, has the school there so it's like a rabbit warren. We wound our way through the maize. <br />
I bought a couple of angels because I thought I would like to make some myself. They look easy enough and would make nice gifts.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181020_114253_zpstpc5ytpx.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181020_114253_zpstpc5ytpx.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181020_114253_zpstpc5ytpx.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181020_114248_zpsuvb32xmo.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181020_114248_zpsuvb32xmo.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181020_114248_zpsuvb32xmo.jpg"/></a><br />
We looked around all the different rooms and I held onto Cooper so he didn't get lost. <br />

I didn't want to really buy anything but I thought if I saw a night light I would claim it. Didn't find any. We did see some really cool stuff though. The picture above is something I would like to try. I saw a class last year when we were out and about and it looks easy enough. When the painting is done you put the small lights on the back and punch through to the front. It's a nice effect and I want one for outside on the porch. I have the canvas now so I really hope I get it done.<br />

Craft shows are a great place to buy hand made gifts for Christmas. Not so expensive either.<br />
I loved these beautiful little critters. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181020_111510_zpsydx4blsk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181020_111510_zpsydx4blsk.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181020_111510_zpsydx4blsk.jpg"/></a><br />
I resisted though. I too often buy things for no reason. Just because they are cute<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/1018/20181020_111516_zpsodtzm8lw.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/1018/20181020_111516_zpsodtzm8lw.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20181020_111516_zpsodtzm8lw.jpg"/></a><br />
I saw Petoskey stones and blue stones made into jewelry. Some that I really would have liked but I resisted. <br />

I was wondering how successful people are at selling. I thought about giving it a try next year. I could do that. It's not that stressful really and I would not have to do a lot. I will ask Edna if she would like to go in with me haha..............I didn't see a lot of things like what I do so maybe I could do something unique. There are a lot of the same things. Something to think about I suppose, it does look like a lot of work for what? I mean really how much would we make?. Edna could do a lot of sewing and I can paint and do other things. I guess we will see next year. At this point I am sure not doing much other than my books. <br />

Bleh!!!!! I went outside to do a few things but it was too yucky for me, my hair is wet and itches now. I dug up a Hosta that was in the way of the path to the veggie garden. I then stepped in the hole and fell over, scraped my knee and hit my ribs and hand but I am OK. Just getting clumsy in my old age. I feel it now, the age that is. I am not as steady as I once was and I suppose a lot of that is due to my vision. Ah well. I also got the front porch changed around.'<br />

We do not celebrate Halloween but I do love Fall decor.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180925_143509f_zpsohswr2s4.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180925_143509f_zpsohswr2s4.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180925_143509f_zpsohswr2s4.jpg"/></a><br />
We were going to redo the front porch this year but that did not happen. We decided to pay as we go rather than run up a large bill again. I just paid off my Pay Pal and do not want it up there again. So, the porch is not too pretty right now. Still this does brighten things up.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180925_143501a_zps5npd1fap.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180925_143501a_zps5npd1fap.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180925_143501a_zps5npd1fap.jpg"/></a><br />
I really like that wreath..........I have one out back as well. Also one under the trellis.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180925_143457a_zpsms57mjdh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180925_143457a_zpsms57mjdh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180925_143457a_zpsms57mjdh.jpg"/></a><br />
I like the Pumpkins, celebrate Harvest Festival and remember times gone by. Do you like my Crow?<br />
Fake Mums instead of real ones. Saves some money there, we are poor folks now. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180925_143435a_zpswmwd3hmq.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180925_143435a_zpswmwd3hmq.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180925_143435a_zpswmwd3hmq.jpg"/></a><br />
The mail mans table<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180925_143430a_zpszmnqv3nb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180925_143430a_zpszmnqv3nb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180925_143430a_zpszmnqv3nb.jpg"/></a><br />
I did buy some pretty Mum's for Alex though and went out today to tidy up for her birthday. She would have been 29 thats hard to believe<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180925_115711_zpsayoxaabm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180925_115711_zpsayoxaabm.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180925_115711_zpsayoxaabm.jpg"/></a><br />
So another year goes by missing her but she will stay forever young and beautiful in our memories. She would like that.<br />

I had read on Facebook that they had new Froggies in. Well really they didn't have more actual new designs. I had to look hard to find one of the collection that I didn't have but I did find one that fits in. I also got to visit the studio where the lady was making new ones. She is making more of the Maple leaf Froggies but is also doing an Oak leaf one and I don't have one of those yet, something for next year maybe. I should ask on Facebook when they will be ready.<br />
This is my new one.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180922_201237_zps3ato8fml.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180922_201237_zps3ato8fml.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180922_201237_zps3ato8fml.jpg"/></a><br />
He is on a gourd rather than a Pumpkin. I do not do Halloween but I do collect Pumpkins. I have some glass ones that I got out at the glass blowers at East Jordan. If its nice next time Tristen comes over maybe we can take a ride out there. He likes to see the Glass Blower at work.<br />
These are my Pumpkins from Beir.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124718_zpstaf9fr5y.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124718_zpstaf9fr5y.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124718_zpstaf9fr5y.jpg"/></a><br />
They have a blue collection but I stick with the neutral tones <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124733_zpsxnfj34jm.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124733_zpsxnfj34jm.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124733_zpsxnfj34jm.jpg"/></a> <br />
I think my very first froggie was this little tooth pick holder<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124643_zps5mvp2eyz.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124643_zps5mvp2eyz.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124643_zps5mvp2eyz.jpg"/></a><br />
Then I believe I got Froggie in the chair.....he sits near the TV<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124634_zpswm9kussa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124634_zpswm9kussa.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124634_zpswm9kussa.jpg"/></a><br />
He looks dusty but I can't get that off unless I wash him and I never remember.<br />
This guy is sitting by the front door<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124657_zpsgc4d5m4l.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124657_zpsgc4d5m4l.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124657_zpsgc4d5m4l.jpg"/></a><br />
I think my favourite is this one I have on the wall and will get one of the Oak leaves as soon as I can. I think that will complete my collection unless she comes up with something new.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_132814_zpsqvp9vmfb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_132814_zpsqvp9vmfb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_132814_zpsqvp9vmfb.jpg"/></a><br />
I have bought a few other things over the years, these silly cats and the rat in the trap sit together on a box.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124738_zpsx6mrz4pv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124738_zpsx6mrz4pv.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124738_zpsx6mrz4pv.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124752_zps0knlusnh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124752_zps0knlusnh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124752_zps0knlusnh.jpg"/></a><br />
I have so many small things sitting around. I had wanted a lamp but it was several hundred dollars. My Aunt once said well you could get one big thing for what you pay for all the small things. I know but.........I love the small things too. The Mushroom I bought over the road at the other gallery sits with my Pumpkins now<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124831_zpsjr98hnah.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124831_zpsjr98hnah.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124831_zpsjr98hnah.jpg"/></a><br />
The Morel mushroom sits with my others, the ones made of Petoskey stones and the Froggie on the Morals.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_124816_zps0pq4pkpp.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_124816_zps0pq4pkpp.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_124816_zps0pq4pkpp.jpg"/></a><br />
Besides, if I break one I can replace it, if its that expensive I would not be able to. One time I was out there I did spent about 180 dollars on this doll who resides on my wall.......along with a Fairy on another wall but it's rare that I put out even that much in one go. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0918/20180923_132657_zpsttteeoly.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0918/20180923_132657_zpsttteeoly.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180923_132657_zpsttteeoly.jpg"/></a><br />
Once upon a time, after my kids left home I mistakenly thought I could have nice things again. Well I did not take into account Grandkids or pets. I learned my lesson. I also changed my decorating theme, so now I keep it to things I know I will always love. Things from Nature mainly. So many small things all over the house. I like hand crafted from people I meet like my Wild Flowers and carved Sumac. Those people retired now so no more from them. Also the Grumm Gallery is gone when Norman died. His stuff now is very expensive and hard to find. I have some nice ones though. I saw one of his things when I was in Beir and I bet it wont be there next time otherwise I may have to get it. A little bird sitting on a branch of green leaves. <br />
Maybe next month if we go north???? Oh no I must be good. <br />

I don't know. I have a love and fascination for them. Why? again, I don't know. What I do know is I enjoy finding them at the beaches. That's the first thing. I love history, geology and all that. When you think about the stones on the beaches and think about where they originated..........well some of them are from lava fields, that means that as we are in Michigan, they have no doubt been here, or came here from the beginning of the world. What I mean is, that geology tells us that the ice fields from Northern Canada came down through Michigan to form the Great Lakes as they melted. That means a lot of the rocks came from Canada and ended up here. <br />

There are all kinds of things we find on the beaches here. Glass that has been polished and in pretty colours. As soda and soft drinks are now in plastic the amount of beach glass is less. It is so pretty and I will use what I find some day in glass objects or jewelry. <br />
On some beaches we find Agates. I find it difficult to recognise them. I have none in my collection that I know of. Those are in need of cutting to find the Agate inside but I don't have the equipment for that. At one time I bought a rock tumbler, a small one. Well come to find out just how long it takes to polish them I gave up on that one.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_115202_zpsyusm8ifa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_115202_zpsyusm8ifa.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_115202_zpsyusm8ifa.jpg"/></a><br />
Laura and I most recently have been looking for Blue Stones from Leland. Those are really slag. They make pretty jewelry and I have ambitions hehe, yeh right, no really I do.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_115153_zpsm1eghawn.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_115153_zpsm1eghawn.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_115153_zpsm1eghawn.jpg"/></a><br />
The tiny ones I keep in glass bottles and small containers that show them off........for now.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_115014_zps4oh51wvl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_115014_zps4oh51wvl.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_115014_zps4oh51wvl.jpg"/></a><br />
The obvious thing around here to collect is Petoskey stones. They are ancient corals, extinct now. They have a unique pattern and when you know what to look for are easy to find.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_115100_zpshdnxtt4o.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_115100_zpshdnxtt4o.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_115100_zpshdnxtt4o.jpg"/></a><br />
There are other "fossils" and corals that can be found. For me they come under "pretty stones" or unusual stones. I collect heart shapes and now I am collecting flat stones that I can paint on or decorate. Some for outside and others for who knows what. I did think maybe Fridge Magnets.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_115002_zpsyzvdmjqb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_115002_zpsyzvdmjqb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_115002_zpsyzvdmjqb.jpg"/></a><br />
I love the small flat ones that are the size of buttons. I can drill those and actually make buttons. That can be (Maybe) a Gerry project. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_114957_zps17promgt.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_114957_zps17promgt.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_114957_zps17promgt.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0618/20180615_114947_zps8ukmafc7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0618/20180615_114947_zps8ukmafc7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180615_114947_zps8ukmafc7.jpg"/></a><br />
I enjoy them sitting around the house. I have much more than I show here. I also have a rock garden outside and I have put the blue stones and Petoskey stones in there. I know where to find them. I did worry about it being a waste but you know what? Those stones will be there, or somewhere until the end of time, just as they were in the beginning and THAT folks is what I love about them, you hold eternity in your hand. <br />

Edna and I went to Suttons Bay today. She wanted to go to the Quilt shop. I didn't want to get more quilt supplies so I just looked. Hard for me to do but I am getting better simply because I have so much already to do. I have given away a whole load of fabric already. I loved doing that rather than hoarding it. Chances of me using all I have is zero to none.<br />
Anyway......in Bluebell Woods I described our day out and so this page is rather dedicated to this particular gallery. Oh my, if I could only afford to buy stuff there. I may go back as I did see one thing that was 1/2 off and it was way over 100 dollars so I must think on it. However there were several pieces that I would like and I live in hope that I can persuade Gerry to buy me a birthday pressie. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_113544_zpsdryn6uvh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_113544_zpsdryn6uvh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_113544_zpsdryn6uvh.jpg"/></a> <br />
They have a fake stream running along one side and have fish in it. I often see frogs too. It adds to the pleasure of being there. <br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114713_zpswxnfsvwy.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114713_zpswxnfsvwy.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114713_zpswxnfsvwy.jpg"/></a><br />

I enjoy the shop for the garden stuff but inside is all kinds of wonderful things. Mainly glass and thats why I always call it the glass shop.<br />
I really want one of these<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114638_zps4gvm71wu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114638_zps4gvm71wu.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114638_zps4gvm71wu.jpg"/></a><br />
Anyone who loves glass would love this shop<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114556_zpsxxmgxaq9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114556_zpsxxmgxaq9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114556_zpsxxmgxaq9.jpg"/></a><br />
I have learned my lesson though. I can't have nice things. They get broken.<br />
I took the next picture to remind myself, I can do this<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114351_zpsa6i57zuv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114351_zpsa6i57zuv.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114351_zpsa6i57zuv.jpg"/></a><br />
A wall of clocks all with moving parts<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114303_zpsdam2ao2f.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114303_zpsdam2ao2f.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114303_zpsdam2ao2f.jpg"/></a><br />
The bug collection is adorable<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114226_zpsuxuvht9j.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114226_zpsuxuvht9j.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114226_zpsuxuvht9j.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114140_zpsj6sczkas.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114140_zpsj6sczkas.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114140_zpsj6sczkas.jpg"/></a><br />
Another picture to remind me what I can do myself if I just get craking<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_114000_zpsho2g1xat.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_114000_zpsho2g1xat.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_114000_zpsho2g1xat.jpg"/></a><br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_113955_zps1yd8f9cg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_113955_zps1yd8f9cg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_113955_zps1yd8f9cg.jpg"/></a><br />
Then there are other things that I would enjoy if I had the money to redo things. I could do a bathroom around that pretty fish<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_113924_zpsmrie1zxi.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_113924_zpsmrie1zxi.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_113924_zpsmrie1zxi.jpg"/></a><br />
Liz may like a Butterfly<br />

But it's mainly the outside stuff that I really want<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_113846_zpscptqlahs.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_113846_zpscptqlahs.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_113846_zpscptqlahs.jpg"/></a><br />

You have to look at the individual pieces of art to see how wonderful they are. I think it takes more than one piece to make a garden really shine. I hope to collect a few<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_113715_zpsmxdkz2z3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_113715_zpsmxdkz2z3.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_113715_zpsmxdkz2z3.jpg"/></a><br />

Well I can dream..........if anyone wants to know what to get me for my birthday you only need to look here haha..........well I can dream. There were a couple of things in another gallery that I want to post so as I remember them.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/0518/20180524_124357_zpsknixm3ev.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/0518/20180524_124357_zpsknixm3ev.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180524_124357_zpsknixm3ev.jpg"/></a><br />

Absolutely no reason not to make these they are pine cones. I sure have enough of those. All for now. Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4710077370019717566.post-17897756700340650412018-04-04T12:44:00.001-04:002018-04-04T12:44:58.616-04:00April and nothing happening.......Well I suppose I could bore everyone with a few of my latest cards but I won't right now. I have not been doing it every day like I was. I have slowed down a bit. Maybe that's good because maybe I will finally get to do some sewing. I have that stack of quilts and ironing to do. When I get stuck on one thing everything else gets left.<br />
I found an old piece of watercolour I had cut off of a painting I did and didn't like. It was originally a picture of a seascape in a storm. Well it didn't work but I liked this piece and wanted to use it somehow. This is what I did and not sure I like it. So it will sit for awhile and I will see if I want to throw it away or keep it.<br />

Detail<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/20180404_122303_zpsmw9dzlye.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/20180404_122303_zpsmw9dzlye.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180404_122303_zpsmw9dzlye.jpg"/></a><br />
Another thing I did was to paint on a few of my stones I picked up at the beach. I have been experimenting on what paints to use.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/20180404_112141_zpslectvwqh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/20180404_112141_zpslectvwqh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180404_112141_zpslectvwqh.jpg"/></a><br />
I have not had a lot of success so far but these are a bit better. I want them perfect though and sometimes the dots smudge<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/20180404_112147_zpszi1wp3ty.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/20180404_112147_zpszi1wp3ty.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180404_112147_zpszi1wp3ty.jpg"/></a><br />
These ones I copied from Pinterest, but I want to make refrigerator magnets of the faces, the little ones. I don't know why because I don't use them. Maybe when I do my yard sale I can sell them at a dollar a piece. (Well I did pay for the magnets)<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/20180404_112158_zpssmz1qoqf.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/20180404_112158_zpssmz1qoqf.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180404_112158_zpssmz1qoqf.jpg"/></a><br />

I will pick up more stones this summer and see what else I can do. Maybe paint some of the faces and leave them on the beach haha.......<br />
So Carrie and Justin bought me some lovely Tulips that I sat in different rooms. They ended up here in the living room and I moved the plant off the coffee table to set them there. I got so used to them there that I was sad when I finally had to let them go............I decided I like real flowers sitting there and so I bought me a plant.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0418/20180404_112247_zpsgmqgwg6t.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0418/20180404_112247_zpsgmqgwg6t.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180404_112247_zpsgmqgwg6t.jpg"/></a><br />
When it stops blooming it can go outside for the summer and I will replace it with another. I also need to replace some of my African Violets that are getting straggly and in need of repotting. I love those they bloom all year in my dining room window. <br />

The cats are bored. They want to be out in the garden but we got a winter storm last night and the snow is back. I opened the front door and got glared at by Bessie.<br />

Ah well, Boots had just got used to sunning herself in a garden chair so she is not happy either and the Poodles miss coming and going as they please<br />

It has been a long time since we have done anything, it has been so cold and icy no one wanted to go out. Next week is her birthday so I took her to lunch. Well she drove but then she always does. Edna will be 80 and it occurred to me that my friends are getting old. There was a time when I would have said ancient but now at almost 72 myself it does not seem old at all. Liz is 80 now and she is certainly not old either. So age is really irrelevant and does not mean anything anymore. Edna is still spritely and gets around and energetic as ever. I suppose the danger at our age is falling or illness that can knock us out. <br />
Anyway..........we have not been to the Thrift shops in awhile so that's what we did.<br />
Edna didn't find much at all but naturally I did. Sigh.................<br />

I paid 12 dollars for that so not very Thrifty. I have been in need of new cushions but didn't want to pay the price. Well at one of the shops I found some cushions that were exactly what I wanted. In fact matched some I already have. The dogs get on them, did I say dogs gasp? I meant Poodles. They scratch them and pull threads, plus some people use them to put their plates on with inevitable spills. So cushions get washed and lose some of their new looks so need replacing frequently. I refuse to pay the price unless on sale, so this saved me the chore of looking for some.<br />

I loved the red one and the other one is like two I already have. This one fits right in. <br />

I put all my English cushions out on the front porch and that will be my theme for this year. It's so cold out there right now. Brrrrr.<br />

I have not done yet but right now it's too cold. Maybe when the sun gets around that way I may go out later and sweep and organize a bit. At least I got the Christmas trees down. <br />
So one other thing I found on my Chicken/Rooster theme, was a nice little trivet for the Kitchen.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0514/0318/20180323_104922_zpsrutjuhgi.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0514/0318/20180323_104922_zpsrutjuhgi.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180323_104922_zpsrutjuhgi.jpg"/></a><br />
I have no idea how or why I got on this chicken kick, but it seems I have quite a collection now. I think maybe because they are so colourful.<br />
They have found their way into the living room now too with that cushion. So I suppose it was inevitable that this little chickie found a place on the coffee table where I set her down. As I have no other place right now she can stay with the Rooster as she seems at home there.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0514/0318/20180322_134629_zpst1io0t42.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0514/0318/20180322_134629_zpst1io0t42.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180322_134629_zpst1io0t42.jpg"/></a><br />
The last thing I found was a picture frame to put one of my cards in. I need a few frames but even in the Thrift shops they were too much money. This one was only one dollar so it came home with me.<br />
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/spirit580/media/0514/0318/20180322_134609_zpscsyyla7o.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/spirit580/0514/0318/20180322_134609_zpscsyyla7o.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20180322_134609_zpscsyyla7o.jpg"/></a><br />
I doubt it will be any good for what I have in mind but I am sure it will be useful at some point for something.<br />
I think this was a very good days thrifting seeing as I found stuff I was actually going to buy and the cushions were new and unused. Cant do better than that. Oh the cushions other than the Rooster were just 6.99 and 4.99 so not bad. Maybe I could have found cheaper in the store but hey, saved myself a trip if nothing else and I doubt I could have beat that price by much.<br />
All for now. Happy thrifting.Janice Kay Schaubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01218296462551967972noreply@blogger.com4
