Just for girls..............

A pink bedroom. Really you probably would not want it if you were married. Let me rephrase that, you may not get a husband into this room. There are a lot of women who do not like pink. I used to be one of them,now I just love this icy shade of pink. I could really really get into this idea for a bedroom. Or maybe this one? The accessories that go along with those beds..............oooh cotton candy and iced frosting. A nice chair and cushions................ and lace....... And accessories, did I say that before.........well flowers maybe...... Roses?.................. and a cup of tea in fine china?............ I really really want this room....well the colour anyway although, I did find a very pretty blue, and it was so pretty it could not be a boys room either. Cupcakes............

Today I could not seem to get a thing done. I was trying to get the bedrooms cleaned. A certain 3 year old was being way to helpful (not) and into everything. He was especially whiny today for some reason. Could be because he woke up at 4am and got up at 6.30am. He has been doing that for several days now. I expect he is just tired. Not sure but in any case I decided that I should do something with him. So I checked my cupboards and yes indeed I had makings for cupcakes. So ..............we began. Tristen brought in his little stool to stand near me and I got all the ingredients ready. First he was playing with the egg shells, then the butter. Was in the dish water and this and that. I seemed to be reprimanding him every few seconds. Finally he was chewing on the end of the butter stick...............I think he grew an extra set of fingers. He was just in that mood today. Into everything, so I sent him into the other room. Then he started in on the poodles. Chasing them and so on..............it's a wonder I even got them done. But I did........... I used a boxed cake mix thank goodness, I could not imagine getting them done otherwise. I did make the frosting from scratch. I used a quarter of butter and mixed it with powdered sugar and a little milk. It was awesome. I let Tristen lick the bowl. I forget that toddlers take things literally because I turned around to see him with his head in the bowl....licking. Oooooh boy!!!! After the cakes had cooled and been frosted I used some coconut to top a few of them and some pink balls on the other ones. Tristen had been waiting (not patiently) for the first ones to be ready. I put the rest on some wire racks to cool. So we retired to the living room and I got busy doing other things. There was a lot of silence. I called Tristen. No answer. Several calls, no answer. I asked what he was doing and heard him go upstairs..............yes you guessed it. The cupcakes had been invaded, two tops missing their frosting. Hmmmmmmm. He stayed upstairs and when he came down I asked him if he knew who got into the cakes and he said "me did"........what could I say, he's 3. Anyway, next time I will know better and put them somewhere else out of reach. I am linking up with The Dedicated House for Make It Pretty Monday. Well maybe it's art? I am not sure, but it was fun. My friend Nancy asked me to go over and decorate windows with broken glass. She said she had made a couple with her daughter and had a lot of fun doing it. I am game .....so I took over my broken window that I got free last time we went on a shop hop (you quilters will know what I mean), we were leaving one shop and saw some old windows laying by the garbage at the building next door. We went and asked if we could have them. So.........free window and broken glass to play with, we set to it. I took over my glass that I got at a garage sale a long time ago along with my stained glass equipment. I figured I may as well use up the glass somehow. No point in keeping it all and never doing it. ITs hard to do in my house with animals and kids. Breaking up glass that is. This is the first attempt by me. You just glue the pieces to the glass in the window. The point is to break up glass, any glass. Old tumblers, bottles, plates .....anything glass. Glue the pieces on in any design pleasing to you. When you are done then hang it up. I wanted to put it by my garage to catch the light. It was hard to get a good picture but here it is. I think its pretty in the light, the sun catches it. I do want to do a couple more, maybe using more colour next time. I did like the white glass though. I added a few "jewels" on top of some of the pieces and liked the effect. I experimented at first using my stained glass and found one can make pictures with the broken pieces. Will do that next time. On the same day while waiting for the glue to dry, we went to a place that sold building supplies along with used furniture and stuff. I found these 3 lamp covers. I think if I stick some coloured "jewels" on them they will look nice in the garden next year. Could always put a candle inside. Alexandra's birthday.............

How can you be gone? I still expect you to come bursting through the door......a flurry of hyper activity, a burst of noise and energy......silent now. So many things every day make me think of you. Time passes quickly your son is 3 now. So much like you, that same energy and attitude. Soon it will be your birthday except for you time has stood still. Forever young, forever beautiful in our eyes. We will visit you and maybe take some flowers. Liz says hello!!!!. We will stand and gaze at your grave and wonder why? We comfort ourselves in the knowledge that we will see you again some day but for now I miss you more than I can say.

Pretty Birds.............

It will be a time before I get back to crafts and sewing. I am still catching up after my vacation. So this time I will share some pictures I have found of really cute little birds. I like to show things I have found in any case and this is the place to share. How cute is this? there are so many pretty hummingbirds but this one is just so cute. Nature comes up with so many varieties and colours This is an angry bluebird Seems many are quarrelsome The pride of the Peacock............he is in love with his image. This has to be some kind of bird of Paradise...............or not? This be no bird but what a cutie and he is a Poodle Moth can you believe it? Well I hope those who follow enjoy these pictures as much as I did. A blog if nothing else is a place to keep the treasures one finds no matter what they be. As you can tell, I have not done much of late. I am still catching up from my trip to England. I am working in the garden and catching up in the house. Maybe soon I can get to actually getting back into some crafts or art. I am also reading for a change. I was inspired while at Battle and found a book in the gift shop that I bought. Its called "Conquest" (go figure) and so my spare moments have been in reading that. Watch this space..............I will return.
