Watercolour .........

I took a picture I had and changed it to make one of my own, so now although I was inspired by a picture I have an original. Sometimes I need that to spark my imagination. I do wish I could just come up with these things. I never look at what inspires me when I draw my own.

Journal...........

Here we are on day two of the new year. I have thought about doing a journal. Not a written one but an art journal. Well, maybe with some poems too but with illustrations. I have looked at, and bought books about journaling but.........ahhhh, not exactly me. So this will be an experiment. I have done two pages so far. I am not sure where it will go. I want to experiment with things, go into different directions. I tend to do things I like and feel comfortable with. Flowers, birds and animals. I actually have not done too many things that I can honestly say I love. A few I like .....but that's not the point. People tell me my pictures are good, then say "I sure couldn't do it I cant do a stick figure".........not exactly the rule to judge me by. I only see whats wrong with the things I do. So, this is to relax me. I will start with simple things. Looks OK from a distance but............. Close up, not so much. These are all done with water soluable crayons. So that is the start......not sure where it will go but I will try to show what I am able to accomplish. They wont be great art and I will try to do some weird stuff. Some drawings...........

I have a few drawings done quite recently. Some coloured with pencil but most are practice in plain pencil.............unfinished works First a kitten...trying to get a baby look to this one. The next two are practices on drawing eyes. The next is a draft of a photo of my granddaughter Alexandra for maybe a future drawing. All my drawings are done freehand. The next is a fairy.........followed by a silly picture of two fairy folk Finally a rough picture of some violets coloured with pencil

I am sketching at the moment in the hopes of doing something I can paint. I am not sure yet what I want to accomplish. I am working on composition and proportion and perspective. Not quite getting things right but here are what I did yesterday.

All my drawing is done freehand. I may look at something, another picture or painting, a photo for an idea, but I draw without the use of anything else. When I took one watercolour class I was shocked to find some of the local artists (and good ones) trace or use a light box to project their chosen picture onto their paper. To me that seems like cheating. However, one person had a point......when doing a building, in order to get the proportions correct, one should use a light box. I have never yet done that. So these drawings that I show on this blog will unless I say otherwise me freehand.

Works In Progress.............

Not sure yet how I want to finish this. I drew from a picture I liked but changed it by reversing the image and changing it a bit. I also drew it freehand and a different size so I hope when finished it will not resemble the original.

I need a good photo editor program that is easy to use and not expensive. I want to play around with images whether photos or drawings.
