I have done one of these for each season. Not sure if I showed the summer and Spring yet. I know I didnt show winter. Now keep in mind I am not trying for realism here.

I suppose I am looking for ideas for cards or kids pictures.

really I am just doodling and having fun, you cant see it here but most of these have glitter on them. I bought Martha Stewart glitter pens and tonight will get another set so I have more colours.


I dont seem to be able to get good pictures but that's OK this is just to keep a record somewhere of what I do.


Mary had a little lamb, would this subject make a good kiddies room picture with a bit more detail added?

I would appreciate some ideas what to do with some of these ideas. Do you think its worth making the effort and using proper paper making some of the images to sell? Or are they really not good enough. I would like to do some simple stuff............real pictures take a long time and I do not think they would sell at all. I also need ideas of what to paint on. It does not have to be watercolour or pencil as these are. I have done some decorative painting. That is quite successful.

One day I found a pigeon with a broken wing. We named him Walter (you know, Walter Pigeon)......this reminds me of him.

Still working on doing a good Chickadee and a good Cardinal...........so far no luck. I record them anyway.



What can I say.............


OK, reality check........I am drawing and painting these practice pieces, simple lines, exaggerated faces to what end? That I don't know. I have to say that I prefer realism. This experiment is hard for me. I am enjoying it but to over simplify is very hard for me.

I do know that watercolour and drawing paper do not work well together. All these need ironing and are warped (in more ways than one haha)

I am trying a different approach to faces. I am trying to get away from reality, over do the eyes and proportions.

This one is based on someone elses picture I saw. I saw it and did it from memory. Actually it looks nothing like it but it was not intended to. I liked the pose is all........so this is all mine.

The flower came out OK but I was hoping to add a phrase to it, this didn't work too well.


Thia one, I am not sure where it came from but I found a set of plates at the weekend with shoes on them. I must remember to photograph them

I am thinking of the cartoon girls will make cards some day.

Working on hummers..........as you see these are not what you would call paintings, just practicing my looseness.



I am trying to paint without drawing first and just highlighting with a pen after. This is called Coming in for a landing. I saw the basic idea somewhere and then just did it from memory so hope its not too much like the original because I am not trying to copy people. Just get ideas to practice with.


This little bird has gone through several incarnations before becoming this one. I think I ended up with a blue bird but was aiming for an Indigo Bunting

A few from my latest journal...........

I am still working on the loose idea of watercolour. I needed some idea of what to try next so searched the blogs and Pinterest. I collected some pictures of birds. I took a look and then tried similar things. They are just for my journal and to learn from people whose work I like. Not for any kind of publication or other use. This first picture is rather bland but I sort of like it. Called "Going Home"

I am not sure I see a lot of progress, but in some ways I do. I like to look back over my other journals and try to see progress. I see baby steps. Not what I have in mind I want to do things well. I see so many others who do such a great job and I like to try their style, then I see more and try that until I don't know if I am coming or going. So I carry on in the hope that I will find my own style.......but I like to do so many things. I like child like drawings too for fun. Anyway all for mow

I am still working on my art journals. Same thing really. I gather inspiration from what others do and from pictures I find. A few are just my own imaginings.


I liked making a stamped on background to just make it a little different



I found it difficult to remember what Tulips looked like haha, anyway, I made a couple of attempts

This little picture was a practice from a book of watercolour projects, I modified it somewhat and then one of my favorite poems came to mind.


This one was just made up, a misty morning. Then I did a poem to go with it but only wrote the first 4 lines.
