This part of my blog is all about the things I collect or the things I make myself. I love so many things, I paint and draw and want to learn oils and pastels. I knit and crochet but want to learn tatting. I embroider and can turn my hand to most things given a chance. So much still to learn and do. I live in hope of some day reading all my books, learning all I want to learn and now I am learning to blog. You will often find my original poems, poor as they are I offer them here. I also appreciate other people art and will feature things I find that I have enjoyed. That includes pictures of fairies and fantasy or maybe just anything beautiful.
I try to use my own photo's as much as possible, sometimes I borrow from the web. If I inadvertently use your picture without giving credit, please do let me know and I will either credit or remove it, I hope you will do the same with mine.
If you wish to leave comments on my blog you can do that by joining google if you do not have a blog yourself, please comment if you can I appreciate that.

A Pink Post.......
Just a pretty fluff post for today. Some eye candy.....some sweet nothingness.
Afternoon tea...........
What would a lady have for tea......well who cares? I want this cake.
Maybe a cookie or two
A lovely cup for your tea, and sugar to put in it. Or just nibble on instead.
Lots of pretty sweet things.........my teeth ache just thinking about it but its eye candy, not just to eat. To do a tea right it must be as pleasing to the eye as to the palate.
I am linking up with Keeping it Simple.....probably not the best place for this post but its the end of the year and it is a pretty post.

Tristens Christmas Day................
I would normally post this on Bluebell Woods but I already did a post today. Do not have much to show in the way of crafts. Hope to remedy that soon. For now here is a pictorial show of Tristens gift opening.......He spent Christmas eve with his Auntie Laura so they could attend the Commins family Christmas party. So.......he was home by 10am to open his presents here. He had said he wanted a "dog" stuffy.
He wanted a cape so we improvised. He actually ended up with a couple. An Angry bird one and a Spider man one, he and Reina has a great time dressing up and playing.
Super Grover....or who ever he is was a hit
He enjoyed figuring out how to open his carry case for his cars.
Then apart from all the other things he got the ultimate gift was a drum set. Now he thinks he's a drummer
This year we made sure that he didnt rip and tear into his gifts and throw papers and boxes all over. I gave him one at a time. He then threw away the paper before opening the next...........trouble was he had so many he was tired of opening them haha............Auntie Carrie really enjoyed shopping for him. We were ever so grateful to her and Justin for being so generous. All in all I think he had a great day. Next year he will be just turned 4 and will understand a bit better. We will expect more and put the emphasis onto Jesus. He did have a couple of books that he liked about Jesus birth but at his age its hard to grasp the concept. We are working on that. When we were sitting for dinner I asked who could say grace for us............Tristen said "I can" so we all looked at him and I said "OK go ahead".....he folded his hands and closed his eyes and said "Grace" .....it was just so cute and we thought it was probably the best prayer ever.

Marshmallow Treat......
I am not sure where I saw this idea. It seemed like a quick and easy tasty treat. I found it fiddly and messy. Tristen seemed to enjoy it though. So here goes.......
You will need large marshmallows. A bar of chocolate to melt. Candy canes.
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or a small sausepan in a pan of water.
Snap the handles off of the candycanes and take the wrapper off (that was the worst bit)
Crush the handle part of the candy cane
Spear the large Marshmallow with the straight part of the candy cane and dip it into the melted chocolate.
Dip the chocolate into the crushed candy cane pieces and put in a glass or something to set..............
Three of mine were gone before they set. Still warm............I am about to try one.

A couple more watercolours................
I am sharing a few of my watercolours. I do not pretend to be good at this but I love the medium. I love the surprises that I get sometimes. Sometimes not so much. The first one is just a northern Michigan shore scene. I was never really happy with it, but here it is anyway.
The next one was a class I took. The idea was to do the back fill. The shadows under the bushes. There were some parts of this one that came out OK.
Close up of the shadows under the bushes. There is a name for this but I cant think of it, maybe negative painting?
This next one is not a good picture at all but what I was working on was the clouds and I did like how that turned out.
close up of sky
I would like to get back into painting before I loose what I have learned. I do like other forms of painting. Acrylics Painting on wood and other things is fun. I am working more on drawing and using crayons at the moment as its easier with having Tristen around.

Diamonds............
I was just commenting on a blog that had a caption that said "I would rather have flowers on my table than diamonds on my neck" ..........Not me. I love diamonds. Not for their worth, I wish they were worthless so that I could wear them on silver strands in my hair or sew them into fabric to wear. They are so pure, so lovely. A rainbow captured in a drop of dew frozen for all time.
Pure as a snowflake and as clear as a cloudless sky. It reflects everything around it in a prism of rainbow colours.
Diamonds make lovely jewelry and it would not matter if they cost one dollar or a million bucks they would still be the perfect gem. I never liked them really until I saw the crown jewels in the Tower of London. Then I saw it...........and wow. I was in love. The Cullinan diamond set in the scepter of England.
The Cullinan diamond is the largest rough gem-quality diamond ever found, at 3,105 cts. The diamond was presented to Great Britain’s King Edward VII who entrusted the cutting of the gem to the Asscher brothers. In 1908, Joseph Asscher cut the stone into 9 large stones and 42 small ones.
Flowers will fade and die but .....
Diamonds are forever.............

White Dresses..............
White dresses are of course mainly thought of in terms of a wedding. Not always though. In Victorian times they were summer wear. Sometimes evening wear these days and so I will include off white and silver and lovely lace in my post. Beauty.......just for the sake of beauty.
I suppose one would have to be very slim to wear some of these masterpieces.
I love the silver with the white......again, one would have to be tall and slim to wear this but isn't it a beauty?
This is a wedding dress but oh my.............what a beauty. Don't you agree?
'
I remember as a child Ballroom dancing was the big thing. My parents said when I was 18 I could have a ball gown. Well, by the time I was 18 that was the last thing I wanted in the mod world of the 1960s........but still....some of these dresses are divine.
Maybe that is why I love glitter now, watching those ladies with the deep layers of sparkling tulle gem encrusted creations. So many years ago now but the fantasy remains.

Winter dreams.............
When winter comes we think of Jack Frost and maybe the Winter Queen. Or is it just my English fantasy? I remember reading fairy stories as a child. It left me with a sense of wonder when I see that first snow. It doesn't last long, but I really think there are not many people who loose that awe of waking up to the first snow.
One looks out over a virgin blanket of snow...........now turned to a crystal field of white under the moonlight. It sparks that childish sense of awe again and brings back the child.
I would sit in my bedroom window. Chin in hands and with nose against the window. I would trace the frost patterns and stare at the sky. The snow blurring the light from the lamp post at the top of the road, there the houses ended and the fields began. Never sure what I might see.
Fairy's sprinkling fairy dust that made the snow silver and gold, little fairy folk who glittered among the snowflakes. Sitting on the branch of trees hiding and keeping watch.
Who were they watching for? The Winter Queen? The Fairy Queen? I don't know I always fell asleep before I caught a glimpse but sometimes I wonder if before my eyes were quite shut I might just see something stir, something coming................
I am sharing this post on The Dedicated House. On Make it pretty Monday
I want to thank Kathryn for hosting the event.
