So today I did some colour washes that reminded me of the desert. Well not exactly washes because I didn't graduate them properly. I just slapped colour on.
Kokopelli's Tears
Kokopelli's cave....looking out.
Kokopelli in the desert
Desert winds
Then I did some green and blue washes.
This one took awhile for me to find the picture in the washes. I came up with some mer-people and penciled them in........so I still have to complete this when I figure out how.
Sharing with Adorned from above with thanks always for the party.
This part of my blog is all about the things I collect or the things I make myself. I love so many things, I paint and draw and want to learn oils and pastels. I knit and crochet but want to learn tatting. I embroider and can turn my hand to most things given a chance. So much still to learn and do. I live in hope of some day reading all my books, learning all I want to learn and now I am learning to blog. You will often find my original poems, poor as they are I offer them here. I also appreciate other people art and will feature things I find that I have enjoyed. That includes pictures of fairies and fantasy or maybe just anything beautiful.
I try to use my own photo's as much as possible, sometimes I borrow from the web. If I inadvertently use your picture without giving credit, please do let me know and I will either credit or remove it, I hope you will do the same with mine.
If you wish to leave comments on my blog you can do that by joining google if you do not have a blog yourself, please comment if you can I appreciate that.

A few more pictures from journal number 3.......
I am still working on my art journals. Same thing really. I gather inspiration from what others do and from pictures I find. A few are just my own imaginings.
I liked making a stamped on background to just make it a little different
I found it difficult to remember what Tulips looked like haha, anyway, I made a couple of attempts
The next done with coloured pencils.
This little picture was a practice from a book of watercolour projects, I modified it somewhat and then one of my favorite poems came to mind.
This one was just made up, a misty morning. Then I did a poem to go with it but only wrote the first 4 lines.
Poppies
A bowl of flowers
This next one is another made up picture and its a practice for white flowers, to make them stand out from the background.
I did several more but will save for another post. I really appreciate it when I get some criticism because that helps me see what I do not. I love your comments

Runners for Teal........
My daughter in law asked me to make some runners for her daughter Teal's bedroom. The colours of her room are burgundy (sort of) and olive green (sort of).....these are the fabrics I came up with from my stash.
My trusty machine......a Babylock.
I found some green among my stash so we are all set. I have already completed and sent two runners. She gave me specific lengths to go by and so it was easy to adjust the pattern to work with that.
Now to sew. A very simple pattern. You join your colours around a central panel. Adding as many sections as you wish to make the length you want. You then sew together face to face with the backing fabric. Cut and turn.
The colours in person are pretty much the same as the room, I could not get a good light to take the photograph.
Well that's that. I can mail those and make a start on the next project. I want to make a cushion for Teals bed out of the left over fabrics. Then I want to start on some cushions for the porch and deck. Not sure of what fabric yet.
If anyone is interested in the pattern and measurements let me know and I will add that to this post. It is easy, the trick is getting the points right.

More from my 2nd journal........
What is creativity? What is original art?...........I find my inspiration from many things. These days I am inspired by several peoples blogs. So if my work looks familiar, then maybe you have inspired me. I never copy but I do try to emulate. If I see something that I like and would like to give it a try, then I do so. I keep it in mind as I try my own version. I have learned a lot from my fellow bloggers and I sincerely appreciate the help. I have always done too much detail and so this and previous posts are showing how I am trying to loosen up. After a period of time I will go back to doing things my own way and hopefully these experiments will have made a difference.
This is "Carnations"
One blog I follow did some beautiful vegetables and so later I tried my hand at an onion.
from someone else I learned to do bee's and so now I have bees all over my journal and they got better as I went on.........this one? bleh!!
I learned to put my colour down first, then make my picture. To do it quickly rather than taking forever as I normally would and worrying about every detail. I forgot to pick out the centers, I will do that later.
Not sure where I found this but it's my version
I am not good at this either.......quick sketch and colour. I would normally draw in great detail and obsess over every detail.......not so this time.
This bunny came out a little better than the last effort
Again, simple lines where I would normally go into much detail.........these practices have been very liberating for me.
Sloppy, but that's the point of the exercise.
I will save some for another day...........thank you to all who have inspired me. Too many to mention.

Blue Monday.......
I will share some pretty blues for a change. I love blue. Flowers preferably.
This is a Cornflower. It grew wild in England. It is a wonderful colour blue and always reminds me of home.
Isn't this one pretty. It looks like a Icelandic poppy.
forget-me-nots.....another very lovely little flower.
Oh what the heck, I really want the Spring to come. I sure hope I don't have to find pictures on line much longer. I want my own pictures and my own flowers. This is just a reminder of what should come very soon. I hope.
